Theodosius Oliver Fowler born Feb 11, 1786 died Oct 12, 1861, buried in Eastchester NY. Married Amelia Sylvia DePau. His wife's parents were Francis DePau and Sylvia DeGrasse. He had a brother by the name of Samuel who lived in the Pitcairn area and a sister Maria F Stevens.
His parents were Major Theodosius Fowler b 1753 d 1841, Revolutionary War - Second Continental Troops, and Mara Steele. They were married on September 21, 1784, Trinity Church Parish, New York, NY. They are buried at St. Paul's Church in Eastchester, NY.
I'm not clear which Theodosius Fowler the town was actually named for. Sr or Jr.? Also I do not know what Theodosius Sr.'s middle name was. It could also have been Oliver but I don't have any records on that.
Maj. Theodosius Fowler Sr. had three children, Samuel Fowler, Theodosius Oliver Fowler and Maria Fowler Stevens. Descendents of Samuel lived in Fowler, Edwards and Pitcairn.
Maj. Theodosius Fowler Sr. was commissioned in the Revolutionary War as Ensign 1st Regt., N.Y. Line, Col. Goose Van Schaick in Aug., 1775; 2nd Lieut. 4th Regt. Line, Col. James Holmes, 10 Aug., 1776; 1st Lieut. 21 Nov., 1776; Captain 28 June, 1778; transferred to 2nd Regt., Col. Philip Van Cortlandt, June, 1780, serving until June, 1783; breveted Major for distinguished services; was one of the original members of the N.Y. State Society of the Cincinnati, June 1783; Treasurer 1794-96.
